The Imaging Unit (IU) supports DEO scientific groups by providing access to cutting-edge optical imaging platforms and by developing tailored imaging protocols and quantitative image analysis pipelines according to specific research needs.
More specifically, the IU activities include:
- Conducting mandatory microscope training sessions to enable independent access to IU instrumentation
- Providing advanced image analysis support, including the integration of machine learning approaches
- Offering consulting for experimental design and sample preparation in optical microscopy
- Providing direct support and troubleshooting at the microscopes
- Teaching activities (SEMM PhD School and Master in Biomedical Omics, University of Milan)
Additionally, IU staff actively participates in collaborative research projects with multiple research groups.
Tools we use
- Image processing and analysis: Fiji/ImageJ, QuPath, ZEISS arivis Pro, NIS-Elements, Huygens, Python.
- Data analysis: R, Python.
